A crow watched the earth below the branch he was perched on, black beady eyes following a dark shadow. The pearl white snow that had fallen the previous moon lay smooth across the path untouched by any creature. The shadow treading across the forest floor suddenly paused and rose it’s head towards the dead bent tree where the spying crow roosted.
